Anglo-Eastern honoured at NMDC

Hong-Kong headquartered and a global shipping conglomerate, ‘Anglo-Eastern’ was awarded as an ‘Outstanding Foreign Employer of Seafarers’ for the 17th time in the last 21 years at 61st National Maritime Day celebrations in Mumbai on April 5, 2024.

India’s most reputed maritime academic institution owned and operated by Anglo Eastern near Mumbai city in India, ‘Anglo Eastern Maritime Academy’ secured '1st Rank' in pre-sea training institutes conducting courses for the second consecutive year at National Maritime Day celebrations event held in India recently.

Anglo-Eastern Group currently employs around 21,000 Indian seafarers.

Commenting on these prestigious awards won by Anglo Eastern, Capt Vinay Singh, Group Managing Director Marine HR - Anglo-Eastern, said, "We are honoured to be recognized by the National Maritime Day Committee as an Outstanding Foreign Employer of Indian Seafarers. Anglo-Eastern has been dedicated to the development of Indian seafarers for over 40 years, and our commitment has been acknowledged by the Directorate General of Shipping of India on more than 15 occasions in the past two decades”.

History was created in navigation in India when SS Loyalty, the first ship of The Scindia Steam Navigation Company Ltd journeyed to the United Kingdom, which was a crucial step in India's shipping history as the sea routes were earlier controlled by the British. This day was first observed on April 5, 1964 informing people and spreading awareness about intercontinental commerce and the economy worldwide. Since then it has been observed every year on the same day.
