India’s oldest union of merchant navy officers, The Maritime Union of India (MUI) has initiated a process to bring back home Mr Roshan Raj - an Indian seafarer who got stranded at Libyan port of Misrata on ship ‘East Express’ 19 January 2022 onwards. Mr Roshan Raj is a native of Bihar’s Patna city.
MUI’s general secretary Capt Tushar Pradhan is in constant touch with Shri Paramjeet Singh, Second Secretary (Pol & Com) & Head of Chancery, Embassy of India, Tunis, Tunisia to facilitate the safe return of Mr Roshan Raj to India at the earliest.
“MUI is committed to reunite Mr Roshan Raj with his family. It is our union’s duty to offer legal, financial and moral support to Indian seafarers at times of crisis. We are willing to bear the cost of Mr Roshan Raj’s air ticket back home from Libya,” said Capt Tushar Pradhan, MUI general secretary.
